StaRAI - Semantics and Inference

Tutorial at FLAIRS-33

May 17th, 2020

The 33rd International FLAIRS Conference
May 17-20th, 2020, North Miami Beach, Florida, USA

Organizers

The tuturial is organized by
Tanya Braun, Marcel Gehrke, Gabriele Kern-Isberner, and Marco Wilhelm

Tanya Braun is a research associate at University of Lübeck

Marcel Gehrke is a research associate at University of Lübeck

Gabriele Kern-Isberner is a professor for Information Engineering at TU Dortmund University

Marco Wilhelm is a research assistant at TU Dortmund University

Goals

The goal is to provide an overview about recent developments in
probabilistic relational modeling and reasoning

In recent years, a need for efficient inference algorithms on compact representations of large relational databases became apparent, e.g., for machine learning or decision making. This need has lead to advances in probabilistic relational modelling for artificial intelligence, also known as statistical relational AI (StaRAI).
This tutorial provides a detailed introduction into semantics and exact inference in StaRAI.
