Curriculum Vitae

Dr. J.-Uwe Meyer is an accomplished biomedical engineer with a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Sciences from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in1988. His career includes a post-doc at the NASA Life Science Division of the Ames Research Center, head of the department of Sensorsystems/Microsystems at the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering, head of research and technology at the medical device and safety company Dräger, and a directorship at the endoscopy company Richard Wolf.

In 2011, he founded and headed the medical software systems company MT2IT, offering smart digital healthcare services and business solutions for a decade. Currently, he runs JUM eHealth Consulting, advises on health apps, and serves on international healthcare standards committees. Dr. Meyer is also an associated professor at the University of Lübeck and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), mentoring in e-health innovation.

Cyber-Physical Medical Systems (CPMS)

Cyber-physical medical systems (CPMS) are critical integrations of medical device and software system components in a network. These systems combine computation (cyber) with physical components (medical devices) to enhance healthcare efficiency and safety. They record environmental information via sensors, process it using computer support, and influence their surroundings through actuators. CPMS play a significant role in advancing healthcare technology and decision-making processes.
